“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”

(John 10:1-5 ESV)

Listening is a vital part of our journey with God. The privilege of hearing the Spirit speak to us is part of our inheritance in Christ. We learn to listen by being still on the inside. Stillness is developed through a quiet confidence and trust that Jesus’ sheep can hear his voice.

Discerning the voice of the Good Shepard  from wolves that seek to lead us astray is only possible for those that meditate and study God’s word and receive the fullness of His Spirit. These wolves or false teachers often appear as angels of light, so knowing the teaching of  Jesus and his Apostles is of utmost importance.

Life with God is only experienced through Jesus Christ – He is the Shepard of his sheep.

The sheep of Jesus will not follow a stranger. Many are being deceived by unholy spirits. The only safe place in the spiritual realm is found in Jesus. Some are being led into spiritual bondage by dark forces because they haven’t had a life changing encounter with the real God. They have only had a liberal or legalistic exposure to dead religion. Therefore they can’t be still and know that he is God.

We gain confidence for discerning the voice of God by learning to live in his presence. – Bobby
