Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. – (Hebrews 1:1-4 ESV)

Jesus Christ is not an angel, avatar, or some guru who obtained enlightenment. He is the only true God-man who has ever lived. Everyone has an opinion about him. All major religions have something to say about Jesus of Nazareth. His brief time on earth changed the world forever. Ancient historians wrote about him, which was unheard of since he was not born into earthly royalty.

Historians of that time didn’t record the exploits of ordinary people. Yet accounts outside of the Bible as far away as Rome mentioned this miracle worker from the tiny nation of Israel. Many historians agree that the Jews would be the last people on earth to worship a man. They expected a Messiah, a political leader, but not God in the flesh. The fact is, something extraordinary and clearly supernatural happened for Christianity to grow so fast and spread so rapidly.

The Apostle Paul gave up everything to follow Jesus, and he had a lot to give up! In fact all his early disciples  sacrificed everything to follow this humble carpenter. What was it about this Jesus that so many were willing to even die for? They saw the radiance of his Glory and in him they beheld the very nature of God. These early converts from Judaism experienced His transforming power, his Divine embrace, and the forgiveness of sins.  It was a life altering, worldview shattering, encounter with the One through whom the whole world was created.  And this same experience is available to all that seek Him today.
